The study by Ruffians.co.uk analyzed search data for popular haircuts and hairstyles. To do this, a list of haircuts was sourced from Google, where it was run through the Google Keyword Planner to determine their average search volume in the US for each month from September 2024 to August 2025.

Curtain bangs take second place with 260,632 monthly searches. This haircut features retro-inspired bangs parted down the middle to frame the face like curtains.
The classic bob haircut ranks third with 153,562 monthly searches. This haircut consists of a short to medium cut, usually chin to shoulder length, with clean, even ends.
Men’s medium-length haircuts are the most popular male style, ranking fourth overall with 109,127 monthly searches. This refers to hair that falls between short and long, offering enough length for movement and styling.
The shag haircut rounds out the top five with 108,518 monthly searches. It’s a layered, textured cut with feathered ends that creates a messy look.
Layered haircuts take sixth place with 99,952 monthly searches. This is when hair is cut at different lengths to add volume, movement, and dimension.
Long haircuts for men rank seventh with 69,235 monthly searches, referring to hair grown past the shoulders, often worn loose or tied back.
Shoulder-length haircuts claim eighth place with 67,071 monthly searches. This refers to hair that falls right at or just below the shoulders, offering a balanced length.
Wispy bangs rank ninth with 54,781 monthly searches. These are thin, feathered bangs that softly blend into the rest of the hair.
Completing the top ten is the man bun, which attracts 35,458 monthly searches. This refers to long hair pulled back and tied into a bun, usually at the crown or back of the head.
