These Are the States That Are Most Obsessed with Binge-Watching

The March 2026 report on streaming habits across the US found that Delaware residents are most obsessed with binge-watching. A new study by the eyewear brand Overnight Glasses reveals which states are most hooked on streaming services, like Netflix and Hulu.

  • Delaware residents are most obsessed with streaming platforms, watching TV series for more than 3 hours daily.
  • Every weekend, people in Maine stream 8 hours of shows on HBO, Netflix, and other similar apps.
  • Despite having full-time jobs, Montanans still manage to binge-watch their favorite TV programs for 3.5 hours on weekdays.

The research examined streaming stats in every US state. The report used data from the American Time Use Survey, which tracked how many hours people spend watching shows and movies across platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, HBO, and Hulu. The study also measured how actively residents search online for streaming content, normalizing results per 100K people. States received final scores by combining viewing hours and search interest, showing which places are truly obsessed with binge-watching.

Here’s a look at the top 10 states most obsessed with binge-watching:

1. Delaware

  • Average daily viewing (all adults): 3.08 hours
  • Average daily viewing (active watchers): 3.67 hours
  • Weekday average: 2.75 hours
  • Weekend average: 3.82 hours
  • Weekend spike: 38.8%
  • Streaming searches per 100K residents: 704

Delaware is the most obsessed state with binge-watching. Residents here average over 3 hours daily watching shows and movies. That’s more than enough time to finish an entire season of most series in a single week. People here also browse for TV content more often than anywhere else, looking up Netflix and HBO streaming options thousands of times. The state also sees a 39% jump in viewing on weekends compared to weekdays, so Saturdays mean catching up on everything they missed.

2. Montana

Montana comes second, as its residents are among the biggest streaming addicts in the country. Even on busy workdays, people here still spend nearly 3.5 hours watching shows, more than anyone else during the week. Active watchers go further, spending over 4 hours glued to their screens. Montanans also seem like they want to be on every streaming platform so they don’t miss out on any show, searching for how to access Hulu, HBO, and Netflix at the same rates.

3. Maine

Maine residents take third place among the biggest binge-watchers. During the week, viewers here spend under 3 hours a day watching TV shows, which is closer to what other Americans do. But when Saturday and Sunday arrive, they go all out, streaming for over 4 hours daily. That’s a 113% spike, indicating that locals love to save everything for the weekend and marathon through shows non-stop. Their favorite platforms are Netflix and Amazon Prime.

4. Rhode Island

Next on the list is Rhode Island, where average residents spend about 2.3 hours daily watching shows on their TVs and laptops. Active watchers are even more hooked, sitting in front of the screens for nearly 3 hours. Like in Rhode Island, the local favorite is Netflix, with no other platform coming close to its popularity. People here are also so into their beloved TV shows that they often prefer to download them to their devices so they can watch them later.

5. New Hampshire

New Hampshire rounds out the top five states most obsessed with binge-watching. Regular viewers here spend close to 3 hours watching shows during weekdays, keeping up with their favorite series even after coming back exhausted from the office. They don’t stop on weekends either, spending nearly the same time in front of the TV to continue their streaming sessions. Netflix and Prime Video are the go-to platforms for locals, with Disney+ being the least popular among the major streaming services.

Gidon Sadovsky, CEO of Overnight Glasses, commented on the study:

“Weekend marathons hit differently than daily habits. Eight hours of streaming in a single day is a different challenge for the eyes than an hour here and there during the week. Up to 67% of adults already use more than one device at the same time, which means those marathon sessions often involve a phone in hand alongside the TV. The eyes are constantly shifting focus between distances, and that constant adjustment is exactly what drives the dryness, blurring, and tension that builds up by Sunday evening.”
